A Hot Field

If you’re undecided about a career choice, or want a change, consider health care.

Nurses are in demand, especially in California. We have a severe deficit in our state, mostly in rural areas. In fact, we receive many “traveling nurses” every year to fill the positions available.

California is one state known for paying health care workers well, compared with other states. The benefits of the traveling nurse position are: you keep your home base, travel to a state where you are most needed for weeks, or months, (depending on your contract agreement) and are well compensated. You’re able to see the nation, gain great experience, and make valuable contacts–all while providing a much-needed service to a community.

The projections for health care 5-10 years out are very good. With a large population of aging Baby Boomers, there will be more demand for health care professionals–especially geriatric medicine–where there is now a growing shortage of doctors. So, if you are considering a career in health care, you are choosing wisely. If you are still stuck, try a career quiz.
