Retailers are gearing up to hire seasonal workers, begin preparing now.

If you plan to make money to pay for holiday travel, presents, and vacations, consider being a seasonal worker. Large retailers will be hiring for the holidays. While these jobs are temporary, and the pay is low, employees who stand out from the crowd could be hired on as permanent or considered for the next season.

Smaller retailers usually do add to their holiday workforce, but might not be hiring as many as they have in years past. Concerns about lack of consumer spending being the main reason. But don’t let this discourage you from applying, just be aware it might be a tougher way to go.

Retailers make the largest portion of their profits during the short holiday season, it is crucial to their company’s survival. Seasonal employees should keep this important fact in mind when dealing with customers–treating them well often generates more sales. Customers greeted with a smile, a helpful attitude and a “thank you” when the sale is complete, feel valued.

Employees who connect with customers are valuable to retailers–they generate loyal customers who keep coming back. Many of the highest paid retail employees keep their customers happy with excellent service, that includes alerting them to upcoming sales and going the extra mile to find what they want.

Christmas is a little more than three months away, but retailers are planning now for their holiday rush. If you are seeking employment, consider a temporary seasonal job and apply now, don’t wait!
