This depends on your career goals and what level of accountant you want to be. If you want to be a CPA, meeting the requirements of taking the exam and passing the exam can be a lot of work and cost a decent amount of money. Then the choice of whether you want to go into Public versus Private accounting carries its own levels of pros and cons. In terms of hours and stress, typically private accounting is much less on both accounts. There are a lot of great resources online about becoming a CPA and the various avenues of accounting for further details.
