You need to make sure that you have 150 credit hours in almost all states before you are eligible to sit for your CPA. Because most colleges only require 120 credits to graduate, you will most likely need to take a 5th year, or get your Masters in Accounting to fulfill the requirements for the exam.

First, you should get your Bachelors Degree in Accounting. When you complete that you will be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

Check your state CPA requirements.

In your 2nd or 3rd year you should research getting some internships with a public accounting firm - get you some live work experience as well make some contacts.
