Not sure I would use the term "fun". It is a field with diversity so you can branch in multiple areas - tax, audit, consulting.
I would work for an accounting firm for at least 3 years before starting your own business and get your CPA. Work in all the functional areas. Business owners trust those letters (CPA) and very important to your success.
Be honest and market your skills. Utilize friends and family to get referrals to start and build your practice.
