No, it means that the AP function is getting boring, keep going and the opportunities and responsibilities will pen up and lead to a more interesting life.
AP tasks are not the most interesting part of accounting work, although some people seem to enjoy that type of work. The jobs that I have enjoyed the most have been audit because of the variety and challenge. Also, you interact with a lot of different number of people. Audit jobs are short in duration, so you are able to see different industries, work with different teams, etc. Tax work might be interesting to you as well. Try for public accounting and I do not think that you will be bored with your work.
No, AR and AP positions are more routine. You need a position with more variety and there are plenty of those in the accounting field. I manage AR, investments, banking relationships, and much more in my position. Without the variety, I would be bored--and I've had those positions. It's a matter of finding the right position with the right company.
Doing AP tasks is only one aspect of accounting, there's so much to do with an accounting degree. As you move up you'll assume more responsibilities and thus you'll learn more.
Just because your bored doesn't me accounting may not be for you. You are still early in your career and have so much more to learn.
