Growing up on a dairy for 22 years has taught me many things, but the most important is a love for agriculture, which is why I am here at OSU as a senior in Agricultural Sciences. My name is Hayden Bush, and to few peoples surprise, I grew up farming the land and milking some cows in the beautiful coastal town of Tillamook, OR. I was very active in 4-H and FFA as a youth, which helped to solidify my passion for lifelong learning and education. As soon as I got to OSU, I became involved immediately with clubs and organizations in the College of Agricultural Sciences. Four years has slipped by quickly, and looking back at my experiences I would not change a thing. The students I have networked and connected with through these clubs have not only proved to be valuable friends, but important assets in my professional career as well. There is one thing about CAS that you will never find in the other colleges; its like a big family. There is a reason we have a world-renowned agriculture program and that starts with the students. I love everything that this university and college stand for and I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve as the 2013-2014 Agricultural Executive Council President. To me, a leader is someone who stands up for what they believe in and can bring out the best in others. One must be charismatic, enthusiastic, easy to work with and effective to be a good leader. A good leader should not only be able to capitalize on his or her own strengths but also be able to read others strengths and help them to use those effectively. I hope to be the best leader I can be and serve the students of CAS in a way that best suits their interests. Cheers to a great year!
