You should decide if you want to work on the bench, doing experiments and try and advance that way by gaining experience in the more sought after areas such as molecular biology, or become involved in the business side of things. Perhaps managing grants, proposals, etc. To advance in the laboratory, you need to become a laboratory manager. On the business side, you may need to get into sales or a product manager role. Try to gain experiences, and then switch jobs. Doing so early in your career is a sign of advancement.
