If you want to be a pediatrician you need to enjoy life sciences (biology and all specialities related to biology). Medicine is very much related to biology and is the same type of thought-process. You don't need to major in biology to go to medical school. You can major in anything but you need to do well in biology (A minus and above) in addition to other required pre-med reqs.

Also, you must understand that you will have to go to medical school before you apply to a pediatric residency. 4 years after college and 3 years after medical school.
