At this stage have your educational institution help you find internships. That's the best way to match your career interests to a job after your schooling is finished. Internships provide a "try and buy" for the employer and provides you with real life experiences that might help you fine tune and develop focus on a sub field.

Not sure where you are but zoo's, aquariums, coastal schools, theme parks, and research centers would certainly be interested in hosting you during your off months.

They key is to see where the school might have established relationships with intern programs. Take whatever they have. Your skills and passion will steer you in the right direction once you're in the door.
