As with all areas, it's hard to know whether you'll enjoy the job, until you actually live the experience. For example, take a person who is very accurate at math problems, and who doesn't particularly enjoy dealing with other people. This person might think they would enjoy being a public accountant. After studying and gaining the credentials to become an accountant, they then find they have to deal with people all the time -- often with very angry, worried, or distraught people! They end up unhappy.

So, there's no way to know for sure just by reading about the type of science. Talk to other people in the field you're interested in. See if you can volunteer or get an internship.
