What is the most important thing in an application when applying to bioinformatics and/or software engineering for grad school?
I am currently a biology major, but I am not premed. I am interested in going to grad school for bioinformatics or software engineering. I really want to go to Santa Clara university, but I don't know how to switch fields from being a biology major to an engineer.

If you have had any experience working in the software industry/field, HIGHLIGHT that in your resume. Grad schools usually look for the following in their students:
1)Background(So that you can pick up things quicker in classes. It will be easier to learn stuff if you have the basics)
2)Projects/Internships in that field
3)express a lot of interest!!
