As a 47 year old business owner I can tell you that, if your choice is to become a business owner, you should first think long and hard about what kind of business you'd like to start. And I would look first at two important things: what you like & what you're good at. If you're going to be successful at business you MUST start there. Beware of the maxim: "do what you love and the money will come"....that's not necessarily true. You should definitely do what you love but if you do it the wrong way you won't make money.

If, for example, you love fashion and you find you're pretty good at design or clothing coordination, etc., you may want to explore a career toward this end. And to explore this avenue, you may first want to get a job in this field (before considering starting a business) so that you can see if you do indeed like it AND to see how the business works.
