This is a great idea! Early childhood education is very rewarding but also challenging when working with very young children. So finding an internship, an assistant/aide position, or volunteering is great. It is always best to get in the environment and experience it first hand before making any financial and time commitments to your education.

You may want to contact local child care centers/preschools and inquire what type of internships they offer. I suggest looking into various schools that focus on different teaching philosophies. Not all early childhood programs are the same. Seeing the various philosophies can help develop your own personal teaching philosophy.

Good luck!
