I would recommend searching for volunteer opportunities on idealist.org, and doing some informational interviews. You can google 'informational interviews' to get an idea about what they are.

You may also try to contact local schools where you could possibly be hired full-time and contact them to ask if they need volunteers. If you do not get a full-time job out of this, but you still manage to volunteer at the school, at the very least you'll have contacts in the field and possibly great recommendation letters from them.

Good luck!

Look for opportunities to volunteer in the field you are studying. Locate people who are doing the job you want to do and ask if you can volunteer to work with them. This gives opportunity to learn hands-on the skills, language and expectations of the job.
