Of course you can make it in that industry.
There are so many different roads that people take in getting there.
A few of my friends who were film students with me moved to Cali after graduation and dove right in- volunteering on movie sets and working their way into the business. But it also depends on what kind of video work you're interested in doing (documentary, short film, full-length features, etc.). My best advice is to stay active in creating video content. Do everything you can to gain a solid education in film techniques, history, and the current industry. And from there, based on your skill set and personality, decide what role you would best play in the filmmaking world.
