Hello. I would say not at all. Even once you are an "established" artist of any sort nothing is certain. Unless you sign a contract that basically agrees to pay you regardless of you doing work. Many times you see that artists have a job that helps them take care of living expenses (such as a home, food etc) and then have to devote additional time to focus on their actual career. With art related careers you almost have to view it like volunteering... You are devoting your time in exchange for possible opportunities or to gain experience and like most things over time it will pay off if you stick to it. However regardless of your stage as an artist income is never or rarely stable. Hope that helped.
