Start local! Go to jo-ann fabrics and join their "how to sessions". Go to Jo-Ann fabrics and explain to them what you're trying to do. Ask the store staff if they have people/resources that can teach you how to sew! Go to your local tailors or alterations stores and express to them that you want to learn how to sew. Ask them if you could help out for free/apprentice and in turn, they teach you how to sew! There is a great school in Tampa Florida also called the International Academy of Design and Technology. Try to reach out to the fashion department and explain to them your situation. They might allow you to come in on off hours and learn how to sew with the professional teachers there! Think outside the box in terms of learning how to approach things you want to do!
