In most school systems you would need a Master's Degree to teach, including art. Each school will list their requirements in the job description. Some schools may even hire you with a bachelor's degree if you agree to obtain your Master's degree in a designated amount of time. Some school systems may even assist you financially with your Master's degree. You could also look into private schools, gifted schools, or charter schools.

I live in the suburbs about 25 miles north of NYC. Public schools in my area all require advanced teaching degrees. For art and music, add to that a portfolio of your accomplishments and your body of work. These public schools offer starting salaries of $75,000 up to $125,000 plus all the perks that teachers get. Vacation, pensions, medical , union benefits, etc.
