I am currently taking a debate class and I have become interested in the various types of government jobs that I have recently been exposed to. What are the different fields and careers in the government that are high paying and what type of education should I need if I choose to take a job in the government?

The government offers a plethora of opportunities in almost every field imaginable. I suggest checking out USAJOBS.GOV and just browsing around what is currently available. As far as pay, most federal employees are compensated based on the General Schedule (GS) and that can be found at https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/salaries-wages/2016/general-schedule/. GS pay is based on locality so one typically gets paid more for living in higher cost of living areas such as DC or California. If you browse the available opportunities you should be able to get a general sense of type of education can get you what jobs, and what the corresponding pay will be.
