What possibilities are there in the research field for political science?
I ultimately want to enter academia after obtaining a doctorate, but that's further down the road. Right now, I'd like to know more about the research field for political science.

Working for a pollster or even a candidate early on will provide you with great experience. Research firms and lobbying firms also is a great way to get your foot in the door and gain real-world experience you can apply to your long-term goals. Consider getting an Education degree also to help you step into the teaching field.
