To become a dental hygienist you need to take the prerequisite courses to allow you to apply to an accredited hygiene school. Once you are accepted into a program it takes 2 years to complete your degree. After you graduate with your dental hygiene degree you take your boards to become licensed and that is how you become a registered dental hygienist.
