That is a noble and worthwhile goal. The number of children on the autism scale is increasing and no one knows why. However, these children are often very difficult to be with, because, depending on the severity, they lack social skills.
There is no question here. Is it: Should I do this? That is someone no one can answer for you. Certainly, a lot of help is needed and you would be very likely to get a job.
Is it: "Where can I get experience?" I would suggest volunteering with a group of autistic children. It would also help you answer question one.
Is it: "What should I major in?" As increasing numbers of people have college degrees, majors don't really matter much any more. But a major in human biology or psychology or a double major would help you with an entry level job.
