I taught philosophy for 30 years. Unless you are a genius, I would urge you to forget about grad school in philosophy. The vast majority of jobs are part-time, paying about $15,000 per year with no benefits. There is no job security whatever. If you are not independently wealthy, try to find a subject that has the possibility of a decent salary and which you would also find meaningful. I've taught at 8 colleges and universities. Bad, really bad....
