It really depends on whether or not you have a preference in helping either domestic or wild animals. Being a veterinarian will certainly do the trick in saving the lives of animals, and you should definitely consider going to veterinarian school, but perhaps you might want to consider becoming a biologist if you are interested in saving the lives of wild animals. As a biologist, you get the best of both world's because not only are you working on conservation efforts to rescue endangered species, but you also study the principles of genetics associated with these endangered species.
