I did a lot of cold calling doctors when I was looking for shadowing. Some of them never called me back or they said they didn't want to have a student shadow, but many of them were happy to have me. Also, if you have any connections to the medical field (family, friends, neighbors) they might be able to help you set up some shadowing too.

I would first focus on the local medical offices. Obtain phone numbers and addresses. You may call, e-mail and walk in to find out when the right time might be for you to go back and talk to the physician about shadowing them. You might want to start with physicians that already have residents and medical students rotating through their offices.
