Those are both amazing fields, and I'm sure you'll come to the right decision for you.

First, keep in mind that it's a big decision and try not to let anyone rush you into making it too quickly. Sometimes family and friends mean well, but they can add lots of added pressure. It's your life and your happiest is more important than anything, even if it means taking a year or two off from school.

Starting on a couple of lists may be a good way to help with the decision. List the pros and cons to each programs, what you want to get out of life and how each program can help you get there. You can also talk to people in each career paths about what they like and don't like about it, and see if that helps you at all.

Best of luck!

I was similarly torn between pursuing an MD or a PhD. I decided to take some time off before applying to school to work in research and get a better understanding of the research field that I was interested in. I ultimately decided to apply to medical school because I felt that an MD would offer me more opportunities and career flexibility than a PhD (however, I was interested in cell and molecular biology, not bio-engineering). I'm really glad I took that time off. I learned a lot about the professions that interested me and was able to make a much more informed decision. Perhaps a couple of gap years would help you too. Best of luck!

It's a tough decision deciding your career path. I'd say go with your gut. There are pros and cons of both paths. Whichever you choose, embrace the pros and go for it.

Thank you for the responses guys. Time is not an issue to me. I figure the years are going to pass anyway, and I might as well do something great with that time. I'll use the advice you guys have given me to get me closer to my decision. Thanks for the tips.
