That is a great goal. Are you currently a nurse? If not, first thing you will need to do is to obtain your BSN (bachelor of science in nursing). After you have obtained that, then you would apply for graduate school. What kind of doctorate do you want? Do you want to teach or practice nursing? I'm asking because there are two different doctorates in nursing - one is the PhD route which is teaching and research - and the other is more clinical which is the Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree (which is the program I am currently in) that allows you to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NPs) and teach future NPs.

As far as getting money for college, there are several scholarships and grants. The best way to obtain that information is to create an account on FastWeb. Additionally you can take government loans, which you will have to pay back after you finish school.
