Wow! I think you should look into careers in the field of aging. There are many, many opportunities ahead of you with mental health and aging as an expertise. Diseases like Alzheimer's and related dementia's are hitting our older Americans very hard, and early onset is also a big concern (meaning, people in their 50's as opposed to those in their 70's).

If mental health is something you are passionate about learning, then pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or nursing, with an emphasis in mental health areas. Another degree is the Psy.D., a newer doctoral degree option which has a greater focus on professional practice than the more research-focused Ph.D.
