Hi I am a human resouce manager in a manufacturing plant with 423 employees. Its fast paced and my day fly by.You need to have an actual need and passion to help people. You also need to be able to follow all State and Federal laws which are constantly changing. The internet helps with that as well as goverment sites. At the end of the day its just trying to do the right thing, listen to someone with a problem or issue and trying to to make decisions that help them or even change their life. I have been doing this for many years and I love people and I love to train. You need to have excellent communication skills as well as listening skills. That is a challenge for most people and listening skills is something i constantly have to work on. You need to be able to present in front of others whether it is a class or to convey info so I suggest taking some courses on presentations. There are many opportunities for a Human Resouce professional in almost every type of business. If your into sports, movies, advertising etc.there are opportunities for you. Manufacturing usually has many employees and sometimes your pay is higher because of that. Do your research. Union facilities are always a challenge for a Human Resource professional so especially in the beginning of your career I would avoid those type of placements. Thank you.
