The options are only limited by your capabilities, your desires, and your ambition.

As the saying goes, find a way to make money on your hobby (something you really enjoy doing) and going to work will never really be a job.

That is an incredibly tough question to answer.

There are so many different aspects of information technology it is really hard to know what any one person should study.

There is applications development, to make a program or system of programs that fulfill a need. You can do that for the large mainframe, midrange machines, personal computer, gaming machines, telecommunications, mobile devices just to name a few...

There is also security, networking, and data management.

You ned to decide your preference - do you like creating solutions? Connecting access to data? Securing the data and access to systems?

What are your personal preferences?

Once you decide what you like to do, you can decide on a course of action.

Until that time move toward a degree and get a smattering of all these options because it will help you decide what you like and that you can then put that imformation to good use for your degree.

The important thing to know is that with continuous learning you can continue to move around within information technology.
