Whether you are too old of not is less relevant than what you can actually do. If you are really good, why not become a consultant? Which means you don't ask for a job. You make proposals to solve people's problems, you give them a quote, lend your expertise, and get paid.

First, you're never too old. The information security field is a hot market right now. Being able to detect and trace the bad guys is a much sought after skill.
While you'll ultimately want to get your certification, search the job boards (Monster/Dice/indeed/etc) for jobs that are looking for a CISSP certification. This will give you an idea of what titles they are advertising.
Then, you just need to convince them you're the right guy for the job.

For sure you are not old for any technology job, please stop hesitating and finish the degree, if you build skills, you will for sure land in a good job.
