Want free career or academic advice
from a professional?

I'm currently in the health care field and I have background in Managed Care Organization's operations, however I'm trying to shift that to be in the IT industry, and I'd like to know what career path I need to take or what certifications I need to have in order to have a better chance at getting an IT role?

I'm currently a Business Analyst II however, the role i'm in is not really IT function it's more operations related, and it's not the typical BA role- it's more configuring requirements to support our ops dept rather than creating solutions. I'm trying to get out of getting stuck in this role, and transition into a more IT related role. I'd like advise on how to get there.

I see that you are a Business Analyst because of your functional knowledge of the Business. You are familiar with the processes and the business operations. If you are interested in more technical roles in IT like web design for example I would recommend learning more about .net technology or Microsoft SharePoint. This will enhance your technical skills towards more technical roles in IT. Please let me know if you need any other questions. Thanks

You'll probably need to transition into Help Desk job function If you have some experience along with some certifications, it may be possible to transition into a jr. sys admin. type position. This is probably aligns more to what you are describing. Let me know and we discuss more.
