There are million no. of opportunities in IT. It starts from where your interests lie. Various opportunities as a Developer like Database/Web/Java/App are just to name a few , as an Analyst like Business/Quality/Improvement, Testing like Quality Assurance/Risk/Beta/User, Support which again has branched into several different varieties.

So, the first question you need to ask yourself is are you a programmer which means a career in Developer, are you a very very curious person to unearth new techniques to pursue a fixed goal which leads to Analyst or are you of the kind trying to break the system which leads to testing.

IT is a very big industry, there are thousands different jobs you can get. Hardware, software, helpdesk, maintenance, database, connection, etc. If you are a computer guy, and likes play with computer, no matter hardware or software, that means you are at a correct place.

However, I'd still recommend you to narrow down your interest first, if you are currently a college student, that's great, go talk to some advisers at computer science, information technologies and digital media, or some related areas. They will guild you for your major pick, and career advice after school.
