I am leaning towards entering the insurance field after I obtain my degree. I think my experience in the personal injury legal field will translate well to the insurance field. I am not sure what the best way to get my foot in the door would be. Any suggestions?

If you are still seeking input, I would be pleased to do provide whatever assistance. My first reaction is that your experience lends itself to General Liability underwriting.
You should look at all of the major insurance companies' websites, but also look at the job sites such as Indeed, Great Insurance Jobs, etc. Since you'll just be coming out of college, you'll most likely enter at an entry-level position. There are a lot of careers in the medical, liability and auto insurance sectors that you should be able to start your insurance career in that you could utilize your prior personal injury legal field experience. You may also want to check out different beginner level insurance-industry designations such as the Associate in General Insurance (AINS) or the Associate in Claims (AIC) to get a leg-up on the entry-level competition. Also check out companies that may offer internships, many times they will offer you full-time employment upon graduation if you work hard, show enthusiam and interest in the job. Even though it's an internship, look at it like a months long job interview. Be positive, come in early, stay late, stay off of your cell phone while at work (so many people don't understand that this looks really bad!), don't get involved in any office drama, and volunteer for any and all projects. Good luck!
