Think of PR and advertising as a specialization within marketing. Career paths within marketing typically span from brand management: managing a well known brand of a company, to market research, direct selling, etc. However at the entry level, some positions may include:
Media buyer: Usually responsible for purchasing advertising time and materials.
Marketing specialists: Help with marketing strategy.
Public Relation Assistants: Help relate a company's goals to the public through press releases, research, press coordination and events.
I suggest that you write down what duties you would be like to be responsible for in your career and type keywords from those duties into a job search engine such as indeed.com. See what kind of jobs come up and browse through them. I think that' a good way of learning what kind of positions are available and which excite you the most.
