A nursing assistant usually does direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse. They take care of any hygiene necessities of the patient. Help feed the patient, if the patient needs it. Help to keep a clean environment for the patients. Also help with walking, moving the patient around, etc. Some certified nursing assistants may even go as far as doing phlebotomy, taking vitals, checking blood sugars for patients, and more as part of their job.
