Both dentistry and nursing professions require a background in basic science. But you don't have to major in science to become a dentist or a nurse. Pick a major that you enjoy working towards and also complete all the prerequisite science classes for your future profession. Or you can choose any of the 'hard' science majors - such as biochemistry, biology, neuroscience, etc. - and you decide exactly which profession you want to enter later.
