Not all medical careers involve 8 years of education. Some actually require more than that when you include a bachelors degree, medical school, residency and , in some cases, a fellowship. But many medical jobs can be obtained with less education as the range can go from a medical assistant (short vocational school program) to a physician's assistant (PA) that could be completed with a bachelors degree (with the appropriate pre-requisite courses) and a 2 year PA course of study. Take a look at the Occupational Outlook Handbook or other Career reference materials to get more specific information about different medical careers.
