I know a MD with a fear of needles. She is a psychiatrist. Most medical positions don't deal with blood. There are so many lab techs, medical assistants, phlebotomists, etc that handle that stuff. It sounds crazy but if you have a higher ranking position, like MD (non-emergency nor surgery oriented) you will get paid well and don't have to deal with the blood and such. That does not mean that it is completely avoidable while you work your way to the top. Have you considered working in bio/medical research?
