I recommend you attend VMI first, then if you are still interested in the military, you can join from there as a commissioned officer. Completing college first will give you more job opportunities in both the civilian sector and military.

VMI is recognized state military college. You can go to VMI without a military obligation. They refer to these cadets are drill and ceremony cadets. Those cadets who choose to take a commission are referred to as contract cadets. Contract cadets will receive classes on military leadership as well as learning the officer qualification standards.
