Find an organization that inspires you and volunteer your time there. This is hands down the best way to get experience and do a gut check that this work is a good fit for you. Also, it's the fastest way to start building your professional network. Most office experience is transferable in the general sense, though there are roles at nonprofits that are quite specialized.

I would volunteer with anything that has to do with social services, start there to see if you even like that field before you spend money on school
