The Prerequisites generally depends on the university or college. It would be good to look at the admissions requirements for the MIS programs you are looking at. For example, my graduate program in Information System Management had prereqs of coursework in accounting and business as well as a couple years of experience in Information systems.

Secondly, one can never have too much education, well in my opinion anyways. lol
If you really want a masters degree or have a strong interest in MIS, then just go for it.
However, a good way to determine if it is worth it to go after a master's degree is to do a cost benefit analysis.

How much does the masters cost vs. the potential increase in income (search salary.com for a position in the industry)

I hope this helps.
