I want to study interior design. i looked into assist.org and i seen the lower division classes i need are beginning two dimensional design and beginning three dimensional design. However, there are also portfolios required to be accepted into some of the schools i'm looking into. Any recommendations on what classes will lead me in the right direction (for that protfolio building)? Or any classes that will help me besides these i just mentioned?
I've looked into school such as CSULB and FIDM. (i want to stay local and in the LA area).

As there is a saying by one of the greatest philosopher of all time (Aristotle) that the roots of education is bitter, but the fruit is sweet. Hence, what I would like to recommend is that you first take those lower/division courses and later move on to the next ladder. in addition, even if there are precondition requirement for admission to other school, don't relent but keep prospecting until you get the ones you might in interested. I hope this helps.
