You can become a Vet without doing any type of surgeries on them. Try Vet Tech school. You get to work and care for animals and examine them, without cutting them open.

Become a vet tech or dog sitter. I have a friend who branched out on her own within the last year and doing great sitting for clients in the Richmond area. In cities you can make a decent living sitting/walking pets. Petsmart has a wonderful dog training program that upon completion you can continue working for them and/or take on private clients.
