What do you mean by "walk in"? The way to get an internship is to contact the company where you'd like to be. Make sure you contact them several months before you want to begin. Ask them what the procedure is to become an intern, and do everything they tell you to do. Follow up after you've submitted everything to make sure they've received your materials. And then check in with them, once a month or so, to tell them you remain very interested, and ask whether they've narrowed down the list of potential interns...and whether you're still on the list.
Your local radio and newspapers are usually looking for internships. Most wouldn't pay but it is a great way to get experience and learn from the ground up. If there is a station, DJ or local journalist you like reach out to them on social media. Go to the station and deliver your resume and cover letter in person and be willing to do any job at the station or paper to learn.
Local weekly magazines also offer opportunities. Face to face is the best way to start. Good Luck!
