Don't wait until you graduate. Get started now, by working part-time at a newspaper, magazine, website, whatever you can to get hands-on experience while you're still in school. Even if you don't get paid, the time you put in will be valuable and huge for figuring out what type of journalist you really want to be and knowing what you like to do.

I used to send stories I wrote to local publications and websites in hopes of publishing just to get my name out there. I had around 10 pieces in local magazines/papers before i graduated and it really helped me get a job. Good luck!
