There are many different ways publishing works. A- you do it yourself. Find a printer once you have the book ready, have money to print it, then find buyers and sell online. It's more challenging, but worth it if you want a bigger piece of income. But if you pitch the story to a publishing house and it's something they are looking for, look to getting about 10 percent of book sales, but they do all the work. Usually for first-time authors, there is no up front fee, you will just make a percentage, which can take years after the book is out to profit off of.
