Josh’s Story

Josh Croskey

I am the current owner and founder of J&J Global Enterprise which is an umbrella company of several start-ups in different industries. To include a few; Operation Homes Inc., Neat Freak Services, Things for Ten & I Know Shoes.

Mentoring has had a huge impact on my life in many different ways. Starting as a mentee myself several years ago under a man name Doug Walker; I was exposed to success on a personal and business level. I received encouragement, support, increased self-esteem, confidence when dealing with other professionals and I was often challenged by him to go further and further outside of my comfort zone, while maintaining a balanced life. Till this day I still fall back on a lot of the teachings Doug gave me and it has truly blessed my life. I have been very successful not just professionally, but in my personal life as well.

When I mentor, I try to duplicate a lot of those same traits of a successful person taught to me by Doug Walker. I express to the mentees to constantly push themselves outside of their comfort zone at a pace that’s attainable, but challenging. I help them set a realistic perspective of the workplace and give the do’s and don’ts I’ve learned through trial and error. I advise on how to balance work and other responsibilities and set priorities in place. Lastly, I always give recognition, which helps to increase self-esteem, self-confidence and affirmation of their professional competence. ??Mentoring has been a mutually beneficial relationship. I feel the mentees I’ve worked with and are currently working with have learned from me and I feel I’ve learned from them as well.

I believe mentoring is a professional activity, a trusted relationship and a meaningful commitment. I truly believe that mentoring is a win-win situation. It helps the “mentee” become more focused, inspired and motivated to act. It’s also a feel good relationship to “give back” by sharing the wisdom I’ve attained overtime!

The importance of mentoring relationships becomes evident as we recognize the value of networking and maintaining relationships throughout our professional career. The value of a good mentor is immeasurable when it comes to learning the tricks of the trade as well as becoming connected to those in the know. I also believe it creates better people and professionals in general.
